ITC Consulting has won a new HIVOS/ENERGIA funded contract
ENERGIA (International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy) currently seeking funds to scale up the Women’s Economic Empowerment programme (WEE-1). WEE-2 will include three interrelated result areas: Access to Finance, Entrepreneurship Development and Awareness Raising and Policy Influencing. Expected outcomes of WEE-2 include a pipeline of 8000 growth-oriented WREEs, including in solar energy, clean cooking and new and existing mini-grids value chains, selling/servicing RE products, benefiting more than 5 million consumers, creating up to 16,000 new jobs for women in energy value chains. Learning, knowledge and dissemination will be integrated as crosscutting actions in WEE-2. Expected outcomes of WEE-2 include a pipeline of 8000 growth-oriented women led micro and small renewable energy enterprises (WREEs), including in solar energy, clean cooking and new and existing mini-grids value chains, selling/servicing RE products, benefiting more than 5 million consumers, creating up to 16,000 new jobs for women in energy value chains. Learning, knowledge and dissemination will be integrated as crosscutting actions in WEE-2.
This Business Case project aims to provide comfort to FMO that a WREE Lending Portfolio is within their mandate and priorities as a DFI, and that it offers a business opportunity that meets their operational requirements as a -development- bank. The Business Case therefore needs to present market developments and a longer-term view, as well as a concise tentative framework for implementation.
The focus of this assignment will be to develop a Business Case for FMO to develop a lending portfolio to the WREE as part of ENERGIA WEE-2 programme.
